The History Of The Makeup Eraser

http://ift.tt/1lHjzpI A quick look at the history of the Makeup Eraser. Betsy: Hi Betsy DeWit and Tanya Anderson here with Makeup Eraser Today we are going to be going over a brief history of the makeup eraser. I discovered the product actually at a bridal show on June 6th 2013 and was unaware of the developments of the makeup eraser at that time. And Tanya can maybe talk a little bit about where they came from before the bridal show. Tanya: Well so years ago my daughter was getting out of her swimming pool and she was wearing a very high end bathrobe that she put on. And in the process of that she wiped her eye. She looked down and noticed some water proof mascara on her sleeve. Being as brilliant as she is, light bulbs went off. She started talking with family and said she thought she had a way to remove women's makeup. We started researching polyester and eventually came up with our own proprietary blend that we found actually removed all waterproof mascaras. That was our original goal. Next we found out that this blend also removes any kind of makeup like waterproof eyeliners, lipsticks, blushes, foundations, high definition and theater costume makeup. We realized that we had something real here. We then started to make the makeup eraser in house and before we knew it they were selling like hot cakes. At that time, they weren't even rounded, they were squared. They were sewn just on the outer edge, without any trim on them. I remember you at the first trade show Betsy, and we had no clue where all of this was going to go or that we would be standing here together making this video. We were really excited at that bridal show and we did the same routine that we do now which was people would walk by and we would say "have you ever heard of the makeup eraser?" And of course nobody had ever heard of the makeup eraser. We knew that but the people didn't know that. This is kind of what we went with at all the shows. We would say "have you ever heard of the makeup eraser?" as the intro to attract people over to our booth. My daughter Lexi started to make the banners we were going to use for that show, and she added "Distributors wanted" and that's where you kind of came in. And you can see where it has grown from there, and where we are at now, how many locations, how many units have been sold. Betsy: I can tell you that I was at that trade show with my mother and my mother knowing I had a little entrepreneurial spirit, had seen this makeup eraser booth and thought if this thing works, it is going to be a world-wide sensation. She talked to Daniel and said she thought her daughter should really take a look at this. I was a little skeptical as most people are when they hear about the makeup eraser and how simple it is for the first time. I actually purchased 3 makeup erasers. I bought one for my daughter, my mom and one for myself. When we all responded with the same positive reaction, I knew it was a worldwide sensation. Three generations of women generally do not like a beauty product the same way, have the same reaction, and the same gravitational pull to a beauty product. So I knew it was going to be a huge hit and that's when I got involved with the company. Tanya: I remember getting the phone call from Betsey and I was at Lexi's house and you wanted 100 units. We were thrilled over the 100-unit order. Now mind you we had sold a couple of thousand so far, and with you wanting a single order of 100 units, we knew we were onto something. Then in less than one week you sold the 100 units and wanted another order of 100 units.
